I saw an interview with Margot Robbie and Tina Fey promoting Whiskey Tango Foxtrot. Margot Robbie told some story about some ditzy thing she did (I think misspelling "Suicide Squad" on one of her co-stars tattoos).. Tina Fey just said "She's pretty."

That would have been interesting. Actually, they should give all the Hatesong artists a chance to rebut.

Just heard a podcast where Malcolm Gladwell was talking about moral licensing. When we (as a society or individually) do something we feel is good or progressive, we give ourselves permission to be bad or regressive. Electing Obama probably made people feel that they weren't really racist and could do racist things.

If you are really a man, you were told by her to shut up. You're not respecting her wishes.

Isn't the whole "men don't hit women" idea just a remnant of a paternalistic attitude that women are weak and inferior?

I've read the first two and have the third at home. It's more of a political intrigue book. Coates said in an interview that it is more Tales of Wakanda than Black Panther. He said he personally likes the later issues after he sets everything up. Apparently, he is a huge comic fan and has been collecting since he was

I agree that it is a legitimate criticism that Marvel is not hiring black women to write comics (assuming that there are willing and qualified people applying), but not that characters have to be written by someone who matches their race, gender, etc. that criticism is based on the premise that one race or gender is

I agree. Most of it feels, if not organic, at least in keeping with how they have handled their characters in the past. The only real difference now is that the new characters or temporary replacements are more diverse. It can be fun or frustrating (Death of Superman).

…and we would have a pretty good basis for that statement.

Dan Slott has been on Spider-Man for like 4 years. I know what you mean, because he is the exception. I'm already nervous about them taking Tom King off Vision.

They do both. For every Miles Morales, there's a Silk, or Ms Marvel, or Moon Girl

Except when they hired National Book Award winner and Macarthur Genius Grant recipient, Ta-Nehisi Coates to write Black Panther.

Also, have I mentioned how much I fucking hate Disquss? I can't stay fucking logged in, it made me make a separate account (at some point the AV Club told us to make a discuss account, I think), which is not tied to my account here. Anyway, I have no idea why that posted under my completely unused account above. Can

Some of my favorite stuff right now is a product of the "diversity era.' As everyone else points out, Ms Marvel is a really good superhero comic. Spider-woman is good. Thor is good. Those three comics are better than most of the traditional stuff coming out.

I immediately thought the same thing. Good for you young antichrist.

Tina Weymouth?
Suzi Quattro?

Frank Black is not going to call bullshit on himself.

Back taxes

Fatty Arbuckle and Virginia Rappe?

Adolph Hitler and Eva Braun?
