Well, I come at the question from a Catholic background, and my understanding of the church's doctrine is that anyone who wishes to join the Church can be saved.  So if it's a Protestant opinion, it's a Catholic one as well, at least as far as I understand the doctrine.

I'm certainly not trying to convert anyone.  I just believe we're all better served understanding the actual nature of the doctrine than reducing it to a cartoonish caricature.
