It looked to me like Brian's backing band was playing with all three groups, but Foster's lead was pretty strong on its own anyway.

Really, there's very little difference between a nerd and a hipster, except that the hipster imagines that his obsessions make him cooler.

That…is actually pretty funny.  Maybe I have bad taste.

Hipster doesn't really describe a distinct subculture.  Nowadays, it means more or less what you said: someone who uses niche pop culture to affect a sophisticated personality.  By that definition, I'm sure there are plenty of jazz hipsters.

What you're missing is the fact that in spite of doing all that, Monk plays fluently.  An amateur can't take that randomness and make it mean anything.  An amateur will play the same random notes over and over again, but Monk progresses through distinct ideas the way a good soloist does.

Does he do this all the time?  I've only got one Monk album, and I haven't noticed it.

I demand you fire this felonious ham!

Didn't look like it to me.  I thought he sang the song well, which isn't easy.  If anyone was having intestinal difficulties on stage, it was Levine.

Not as bad as I'd feared.  Maroon 5 were decentish, although I don't see why Adam Levine has to do that scrunchy face when he sings; it's not as though Surfer Girl is a particularly intense song.  Foster the People did a surprisingly great job, like they actually took the damn thing seriously. That's pretty key to

So, thank God for that.  I guess.

You mean there's a… Black Stormy?

I'm willing to bet the majority of those posts are at least slightly sarcastic.  I don't think most teenage girls actually enjoy getting the shit kicked out of them.

Nice.  I learned something today!

Man, fuck that guy.

I have exactly one reason to watch the Grammys this year, and that is morbid curiosity as to how the Beach Boys will sound.  And I don't even have to watch the Grammys for that!  Youtube will provide for all my needs.

Won't anybody think of Pie-Oh-My?

I believe this makes upward of a decade since I last read the name "Shelby Woo."  And yet I recognized it instantly.  What does this say about me?

Being despised is not necessarily proof that you're doing something right.

Barack Obama: insufficiently bloodthirsty.

My whiteness just fled in terror.  I think…I think it went to go register for the Republican party.
