When I heard the stars aren't returning for another season I imagined both Cohle and Hart eating it in the finale and Papania and Gilbough picking up the trail, and now I'm convinced they were the main characters all along.

C- for dumb plot and dialog, but A+ for everything Daryl accomplished in that shootout

At the end of the episode I started wondering if Hershel was a hallucination of Rick’s and had died in the interim, but I guess he interacts with other people later so :/

When the police find his confession video and do the math, they’ll assume the Nazis killed him for ratting out the meth operation and buried him in the desert just like they did to Hank, the person who was protecting and interviewing him on tape.

Second grace note: Todd being visibly hurt that Lydia thinks he’s stupid enough to want to do business with Walt, when he’s actually warning her off it.

Amazing revelation: Hank was the one who secretly loved purple.
