"I was in trouble like three words into that"

Are comic shops in a tough spot, though? I get the impression that sales are booming these days, and it's not like you can buy print comics at, say, Target or WalMart. I know I live in a pretty comic-friendly city, but the shops I drop into are always pretty packed.

By the way, you guys, can I just say as a side note … I am loving this can-wine thing, I think it's brilliant. I mean I'm active, I'm gesturing with my hands, I don't feel restricted. If I was holding a wine glass right now I'd be spilling wine all over the goddam place.

Your seemingly innocuous comment has sent me on a Dean Norris Wikipedia expedition that has resulted in my learning that both he and Bryan Cranston are in Little Miss Sunshine. So I guess I'm finally gonna have to watch that fucking movie now. Thanks a lot, jerk!

I think it's more that, although his movies have a great deal of depth and social insight, they remain hugely popular for pretty much the opposite reasons he intended. He's like an old Dutch Dave Chappelle

"Hey Pete, have you seen this new shipment of Terminators? They look like old men!"
"Yeah, we got a special rate."
"Sigh. Fine. They're still lethal killers right?"
"Well, funny thing about that. What these babies are good at, is throwing people across rooms."

So that's why they call him Beaver!

And then Walt trips over the couch!

I dunno if you can throw the Bucs on that list, at least they got a championship under their belt. The Arizona Cardinals, on the other hand …

Right? Hey, Mexico, I've got an idea: How about you worry about fixing old Mexico before you go around making new Mexicos!

I like it more than East of West, which has gorgeous art but uncharacteristically cliched motifs. MPs is more off-the-wall zany which works for me.

Yeah I was gonna say, it looks like "Age of [X]" is the new "[X] Rises / Rise of [X]"

Of course his conversational voice has the same cadence as his singing voice. There's enough material here for his next record.

I think you guys mean Steve Martin

Well, I think that goes without saying.

Ernest Needs a Kidney

Did you guys read the interview the AVC did with Axel Alonso during Comic Con … he pretty much says, "Marvel's all about the Inhumans now." Seems like they're really gonna push these characters over the next year or two, probably trying to ramp up their popularity enough to give 'em a movie.

I think I picked the wrong week to give Thor a try, because I thought the new one was pretty boring. I liked the art and dialogue, but nothing really happens. It also seems like Thor these days is more than a little Conan-esque.

Say what you will about Stan Lee's writing, but most of these Marvel characters that are now icons came straight outta his watermelon. Kirby brought them to life, true, but Lee was the driving creative force, at least in that initial spurt of creation circa 1961-1964. Which covers pretty much all of your favorite
