Six seasons and a mov-

Saw a print of Godfather Part II last Wednesday. You, sir, are in for a treat.

Love DRIVE; kind of dislike VALHALLA RISING. I found very little to appreciate other than the unmistakably beautiful cinematography. If Winding Refn had anything resembling a point, I think he was far too obscure in expressing it because I walked away thinking it was devoid of one.

Yeah, and if there's one complaint I can make against 49TH PARALLEL, it's that the end veers toward strict physical punishment of the Nazis over the relatively subtle critiques of their ideology that precede it, and it's not even like in COLONEL BLIMP where this is recognized as regressive but necessary behavior to

I'm among those who believe that the consensus has it right by touting CITIZEN KANE as one of, if not the, finest films ever made, but I actually do think AMBERSONS can stand toe-to-toe with it in its current form. There's no disputing its imperfections—in light of the consistency of something like KANE, they are more

Rewatched BULLITT, and while I can never seem to remember the plot entirely, I love it all the same. As unremarkable as the investigation is made out to be, I still find the movie fascinating and often full of tension.

Every reply made to this post is why I loathe this movie, or at least the ending. I fail to see the catharsis put forth by this article because Douglas' reaction at the end is not grounded in any sort of reality. The knowledge that those closest to me thought this was a rational course of action to make me into a

The Red Shoes for sure. The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp is right on its heels with Black Narcissus and The Small Back Room not far behind.

Aww, ugly duckling. Bawk bawk.

They did the same thing with the Season 2 finale with Katya's death and while I'm still not totally sold on this approach, Pam's last line is killer and the established precedent with the aforementioned finale helped this serious-but-not-really-serious moment grate less on me.

Those who doubt this suck cock by choice.

Welcome to fuckin' Deadwood. Can be combative.

When did they make a tv show about Saturday Night Fever?

Don't usually see a lot of people who prefer Asphalt Jungle to Maltese Falcon as I do. Might even be my favorite Huston movie, but it goes back and forth between that and Sierra Madre.

Cool of you guys to cover this. Had my DVR set to record this for about a week, thinking it was peculiar to see this on television. I didn't know that it was part of a special programming block.

This is all I saw this year (from best to "worst" with spaces denoting a step down in quality/enjoyment):

I don't know how well it serves as a gateway Kurosawa film (I think one would be better served beginning with an established classic like Seven Samurai or Yojimbo), but High and Low is certainly my favorite from him.

There's also a red light cast across their faces during that scene (presumably from the stoplight.) Great touch in a movie full of them.

I don't think Maher should necessarily get a pass on being smug and
grossly self-satisfied simply because the other side indulges in it
(even though I often find myself agreeing with him), but I agree with
the rest of your post. This was a weak episode and the Republican bubble sight gag might have been the absolute

He discussed on the show once with the panel. I can't remember the specifics of his stance, but I think he was more reluctant to accept vaccinations blindly than against the use of them completely.
