I'm just wondering what people didn't like about the film, other than the plot. Any specific points would be interesting.

Yes, it was. I thought that NCfOM was the best movie of the decade… and maybe the best American movie I've seen since, I dunno, Jackie Brown. And Zodiac was a very close second. Eastern Promises and There Will Be Blood were (a more distant) 3 and 4.

I don't get the whole "plot went nowhere" thing. It was a chase movie. In a chase movie, or, at least, the BEST chase movies, there is very little lateral action; scenes shift into each other linearly.
