(They download stuff for people who are too lazy or tech-challenged to
do it themselves, apparently. Exactly why this service would be
necessary isn’t clear.)

Wasn't there a "talking cat that’s actually a sophisticated AI" in Accelerando, by Charles Stross?
(Rhetorical question: yes there was.)

Personally, I think Going Postal is up to the standards of the best Discworld books.

I can see where Kate Micucci's character could be hugely popular with the characters (and the core nerd demographic); her face is two millimeters away from being an anime character's.
And I mean that in a good way.

According to the DVD commentary on NoM:2, the third film will be a remake of Smokey And The Bandit, in which they have to truck a reanimated mammoth across state lines (or something). I don't recommend that idea, but I do recommend the commentaries on NoM:1 and NoM:2.

[Scott/Woody] says, "Don't [increase the frame rate of/colorize] old movies! That's the way the auteurs wanted those films to look!" However, since the original filmmakers didn't have any technical alternatives, you can't say [24fps/black and white] was a conscious choice, or any choice at all. (With rare, arty
