I don't really have a problem with them eliding the whole Ngesebus thing. They managed to keep the experience without having to spend time on exposition (Japanese artillery on Ngesebus necessitating another amphibious assault, etc.).

Yes, it happens there too. Doctor Who has had a number of them. Torchwood and The Sarah Jane Adventures are good current examples.
Well we got us a spaghetti western on 36
are the boots all reverbed out walking across the hardwood floors? Does everything, in fact, have that big reverb sound?
Holy shit
Someone else who prefers "The Thin Red Line" to SPR and this to BoB. I thought I was the only one.
The police state thing was worth it just for the sequence where the Doctor gets all Sherlock Holmes laying out why he can tell it's a police state.
The Time Lords offered The Master a new set of regenerations in "The Five Doctors".
I think I'd rather defer to One than get on his bad side.
The Valeyard.
I liked "The Eleventh Hour" quite a bit. "The Beast Below" had some great moments and excellent design, but I don't think it held together all that well. It also featured particularly egregious use of the sonic screwdriver as a magic wand.
In no particular order, Leela, Peri, Amy, Zoe.
There were a couple of decent episodes in the 80s version. I really liked the one where the English language completely changes in the course of a day, leaving one dude behind to relearn the language from scratch. The one where the couple falls into the space between moments when the part of the world they will see…
Last month.
They've all been solid, but I still think this one is their best since "Close To A World Below".
How about these two:
Buena Vista, VA
Newark, DE
"SO how was Peleliu used after it was taken?"
The new series Cybermen are just Dalek stand-ins. They were created by a madman (Lumic/Davros) and don't do much besides go around spouting their catchphrase (Delete/Exterminate).
I don't know if this is what he's talking about, but the new Tardis has the St. John Ambulance seal that was also on Hartnell's Tardis.
There have been a number of stories that took place in historical locations, but they have all involved some sort of alien. The earlier historicals and "Black Orchid" didn't have any sci-fi other than the Tardis crew.
For some reason, it never really connected that White Noise involved Delia. There is some really great creepy stuff on there.
I remember liking Jo a lot when I was younger (maybe it was the pictures of her with the Dalek). Rewatching some of those stories now, I'm convinced she was supposed to be mildly retarded.
