Bill and Hillary are lifelong political partners. She was an influential advisor in his administration ("buy one, get one free" some said back then) as he would have been in hers. Though not completely identical, they have a shared world view on most major issues, with a pronounced tendency to shift with the winds

Bill Clinton and Barack Obama won because they were skillful, charismatic politicians. Gore, Kerry and Clinton lost because they weren't. It has little to do with the popularity of their watered down neoliberal economic agenda among voters.

OK, I'm officially flummoxed by this critic's take on Gotham. For the most part, I feel like they have sorely underrated this uneven but promising show, but as far as I'm concerned, last night's episode was a real dud. The major crime under investigation was uninteresting. The stuff with Fish Mooney was totally

So you find Paige to be a compelling character?

Am I the only one who was disappointed with the conclusion of season two, with the unbelievable deathbed confession of the son of their friends? I'm not pleased to hear that they're going to continue with the absurd idea of making Paige a secret agent. She's a poor actress and not a very well drawn character, IMO,

How long are critics going to keep parroting this line about Dave "Ear Bleeder" Fridmann being this incredible production shaman? Practically everything the guy has had his hand in for the last ten years has been obnoxiously loud and over-compressed to the point of distortion. He's really lowered the bar for

I am genuinely surprised by the rave review for the season finale here. Though I enjoyed most of the second season, I found this week's climax to be ridiculously contrived. The idea of young Jared being a secret second generation sleeper agent
seemed totally implausible to me, as well as the notion that he would

The Woods featured a lot of great material but the harsh compression makes it an unpleasant listen, IMO, very hard on the ears.  His work from the 90's, including the older Lips and Mercury Rev albums, was more tolerable but it's gotten progressively worse in the last 15 years with precious little dynamic range

Add me to the list of those that enjoyed the wayward pleasures of Congratulations, more so than the debut, though the tracks I've heard so far off the new album have been hit and miss.

In the past, I didn't rate this track as highly as some of
the other Smile material.  It felt kind of light weight and inessential compared
to some of the other stuff, but I've changed my tune over the years.  “Vega-Tables”
captures so much of the playfulness and joy of the Smile project, so I’m
pleased to see it getting

I have similar personal associations with the song.  Back in high school, I was crushing out on a girl who didn't dig me that way, trying to get over it.  I was getting ready to go on a date with another girl who I wasn't really sure about when this song came on the radio and it just clicked.  Go with what you got,

Your facts are incorrect.  The debut is the best CSN album.  Deja Vu is the best CSN&Y album.  Young's contributions to collective here were fairly limited and I never got the feeling that his heart was that into the project.  I know that it's cool to give Neil all the props, as Yow does here, but he certainly wasn't

"Hey, don't knock masturbation.  At least it's sex with someone I love." —Woody Allen

Yeah, that's more how I interpret it.  Maybe the last relationship didn't work out and you're sort of hung up on it, but sometimes you just have to move on and embrace the new thing.  It may not be poetry, but it's hardly the repugnant sentiment some make it out to be.

Sorry, but this piece was just silly snarkiness and hollow outrage, one dude's personal beef.  Apart from misinterpreting the lyrics, Yow doesn't even bother to offer any kind of reasoned critique about what's so awful here.  He's just barking like a mad dog.  It's really easy to turn your nose up and trash talk

I have to say that I'm having trouble comprehending the reviewer's enthusiastic endorsements of Kitty.  To me, she's easily one of the most bland, unengaging characters on the show.  Kathleen Robertson's acting range runs all the way from pensive to pouty and she seems incapable of emoting convincingly.  According to

Maybe it's not fair to judge exclusively from the preview, but this one looked like the worst kind of sentimental Spielberg hokum, just tugging at the heartstrings.  I'm amazed at the grade here, and while I probably shouldn't judge without seeing it, there's no way in hell I'm willing to pay to see this tripe.  I can

I haven't read through all of the comments here, but it really needs to be pointed out that Mark Halperin, author of Game Changer, is the worst kind of political hack.  Contrary to some claims, he's not the least bit liberal and apart from dishing gossip, he's mainly concerned with regurgitating the lamest

I know how you feel.  I experienced the same thing with the Killing.  After a couple of episodes, I knew it was really bad, but somehow I just couldn't turn away.
