The great paradox of this show is that every week nothing really happens, and yet the story is driven forward by awesome cliffhangers. Even when this show is at its suckiest, which is often, I keep tuning in to see how each week's cliffhanger is resolved.

I can see keeping the president out of the main plot, but keeping her useless? That was just a little too pathetic. Instead of resting her head on her hand, she should have been reading some briefing papers with a pen in her mouth. Make it look like she's doing something rather than nothing…

The product placement is WAY less grating when it's done with a wink and a nudge like that. This show doesn't go quite as far as 30 Rock with really making it a big joke, but we know that they know that we know. They aren't treating the fans like idiots.

Agreed. Kurtwood Smith really pulled it off, but kudos to the writers for giving them some halfway nuanced lines to work with.

I thought it was a play on the line, "Forget about it, Jake, it's Chinatown," which everyone knows is a line from The Simpsons.

I have to disagree. It's not like she's doing the Moss thing where she gets all morally superior on Jack. She does what was "necessary" but at least it rips her up. It's not about checking Jack's ruthlessness, it's about the fact that Jack doesn't even cry anymore.

Isn't it difficult for you to follow what's happening in this show when you're so fucking high?
