Now it feels like our discussion accidentally collapsed the wave function. We are getting a white woman—at least it's Brie Larson.

I'd argue that there actually AREN'T enough white women in the MCU, but that's only because there aren't enough women, period. So yes to Monica.

Now I want this person to play Carol Danvers.

The reason that people who dislike your comments aren't ignoring them is because this is an actual forum for discussion and disagreement. That's what comment sections are for.

I don't know enough about the art form as a whole to answer, but LAIKA gets a lot of benefits from being able to print their characters on 3D printers. So that has to dictate size to some degree.

I got to meet The Artist Formerly Known as Chilly Tee.

Got to tour their studio while they were working on this, and I'll happily report that the giant skeleton is no trick—it's going to be the largest stop-motion character ever filmed, at something like 16 feet tall.

Hi to your sister!

The True Meaning of Smekday, which DreamWorks turned into HOME. They changed a great deal in their adaptation, but at least the protagonist didn't become a spunky freckled redhead or whatever.

He was, and his portrayal was way more respectful. If memory serves, it was more the case of a photographer character who just happened to be Asian.

I'll second this. I sold my book to DreamWorks with no such stipulations, because it never really occurred to me that they'd make my black female protagonist anything but a black female protagonist.

I sympathize with this point of view, but you can't say that there wasn't talent on display here. This was not a daytime airing of Puttin' On the Hits from 1985.

It definitely would have taken it to the next level if they looked like they were illustrated by Gustaf Tenggren.

Not true, actually—you just haven't seen any of the Little Golden Books produced in the last ten years.

This is barely germane, but my wife met Herzog when she was living in Antarctica. He told her science team that he was interested in the insanity of animals.

I've said it before here and I'm saying it again: The Hobbit is not THAT slim a novel. It's as long as The Sound and the Fury. It's almost one and a half times longer than The Sun Also Rises. It's two Great Gatsbies.

Now I write and illustrate kids' books. Which is where my heart is, but illustrating for Magic and D&D were great ways to pay my bills while I was struggling to make that happen.

I used to illustrate Magic cards, and got sent to a lot of these kinds of tournaments. It was a weird mixed bag—free trip to places like Germany and Japan, and yet you sit behind a table in a big windowless room and sign your name over and over.

Well, let's see:
"The film industry’s problems with representing people of color in mainstream movies are well known and documented, but it can still be shocking when someone finds a way to display them in a new and meaningful way…It's not just the brevity of the lines, but the sort of characters they come from—bus

I watched this on mute with that newswire about the new Run the Jewels song playing in another tab and it was pretty great.
