If the show hadn't been renewed, I would have felt like this was a satisfying payoff of sorts for the series as a whole.

Even with its flaws, I have to admit that I love this show. The high concept feels like a throwback to the 1980s, it has a more action-packed spin on the comfortable rhythms of a Law & Order-type show, and Jimmi Simpson's character is fantastic.
