So what's the best way to watch FLCL? Should I go in blind or read up on it first?
So what's the best way to watch FLCL? Should I go in blind or read up on it first?
I know that there are amazing podcasts out there on a variety of subjects I'm interested in but I can't help but feel like I'm wasting time when I sit down to listen to one.
It's strange because while on one hand there are a number of shows I know I should be watching like Breaking Bad, Justified, Louie and a number of others, I also know that I have some real problems in my life, and not watching enough TV isn't one of them. Oh, and Tasha thank you for making me feel better about Mad…
Unsolved Mysteries…
The show no child should have been allowed to watch yet somehow we all did.
Surprised not to see The Sisters Brothers anywhere on this list.
I'm relatively speaking a very new whovian and I think it's that more than anything that colors my perception of Tennant. The more serious tone of the Moffat era writing makes it very hard for me to go back to 10 and not find the proceedings almost embarrassingly silly. Another factor is Smith being great and Amy…
I hate to be the guy who defends a show like Unforgettable which is in fact - wait for it - FORGETTABLE (!) but Poppy Montgomery has infectious energy, is cute as a button and seems to be having a lot of fun making the show. It's a pleasant enough back round noise type of show; certainly nothing I would watch over a…
"It's the spectacle that people mourn—the skyscrapers—not the victims."
I know a many were offended By Jesus Fucking Christs overall point but he is largely dead on here. A good example of this can be found on a desolate strip of beach on Long Island NY: 10 women murdered and buried on the beach by what the police…
I hate being late to the party and apologize if someone already mentioned this but the Novelization of All Good Things is also shockingly good. There's this beautiful moment where as a reward for what he's gone through - and also as impetus to keep going - Q bestows upon Picard, the consciousness of Q. When this…
Like I said in the post that started this thread I never empathised more with Jeff than when I saw him at the end but at the same time I've never hated him more than when he made the crack about Abed and Troys' bunkbeds. I think that in many ways it was the most vicious thing any member of the group has said to…
This has been floating around on 4chans' /tv/ board but I don't know who originally wrote it. it's probably not right but it's fun to think about:
Seeing Jeff at the end eating the pizza while the others danced was so bittersweet it almost made me tear up. They've been hinting at Jeffs' toxic effect on the group since season one - Pierce wanted to be Jeffs mentor for a reason - but to actually SEE IT was something else. Jeff has never been my favorite…
I only saw this episode yesterday. Sorry I didn't realize that there is a statute of limitations on topics we can discuss as issued by LloydBraun.
I'm days late on this comment but whatever. I love Community and Todds' reviews, and how he makes me appreciate the show more than I already do but there is no justifiable criteria -objective or subjective - under which this episode could rate any higher than a C or maybe C+. This supposedly B+ episode gave…
Please somebody out there in AV Club land tell me they have seen the Movie "Two For The Road" with Audrey Hepburn and Albert Finney. It's a strikingly original film that shows how sometimes the only thing worse then being together is being apart.
I thought that the biggest problem with the Annie/Jeff scene was Joels' delivery of his lines: he's not the greatest dramatic actor as it is but the whole scene was poorly and awkwardly written. Maybe a better actor could have saved it, but all in all the whole scene felt like it was ill conceived
Everything Starr did was great; I actually felt like he left a much bigger impression then both Goodman and Williams did last week.
1) We should all send emails and letters to NBC that say nothing other than "Six seasons and a movie".
2) Holy shit Martin Starr was perfect.
3) Pierce extolling the virtues of Somalia was Hysterical. Great Pierce material for the first time in a long while.
4) Like Todd, I've never been a huge Annie/Jeff fan but…
There was another somewhat weird Annie moment in the episode: when she reminds Jeff about how he said that they don't all need to be in the same class to be friends; and then she gave him this look that said don't dish it out if you can't take it.
This is why I love the AV Club. No one on the other board I was on noticed or maybe just weren't interested in the fact that Olivia is clearly back to her season one stick in the mud persona. When you think about it it's actually a brave choice by the writers and Torv to bring back this "version" of Olivia since she…
