My theory is that people who watch SNL know about the strength of the Wiig/Hader chemistry. It's legitimate, it's real, and they play off each other ridiculously well. Reviewers who are not as familiar with their rapport (after years and years of watching them together) might see a scene where they really get to cut

It's always good when your 80 minute movie has a 20 minute subplot completely unconnected to the main story. (I'm specifically talking about Susan Sarandon parts.)

Same here. The trailer reminded me of all the "indie cliches" that I generally despise. Where you get the sense the writer thinks he's creating something universal (ABOUT FAMILY, because that gets you a pass), but instead everyone's just-oh-so quirky and clever that it seems more like the writer's annoying dream

The trailer also didn't do much for me because in a couple of scenes, it seemed like Hader's performance was a slightly toned down Stefan.

The funniest/most memorable scene in the movie is a lip synching scene? Ouch.

With the exception of the actors, I can't think of anyone who'd complain about that. (I'd be fine with letting him keep the Exterminator on as an apprentice since he seems to respect him instead of just bitching like Eph.)

To be fair, I think he's trying to tell us how to make The Strain actually enjoyable.

" It looks like a Saturday Night Live sketch." Yeah, that's pretty much The Strain.

Well it makes complete biological sense so Eph's cool with it.

"You know how people use the Internet…well what if they didn't?"

That review almost makes me want to see it for an Adam Sandler masturbation scene.

Because Genesys would look rydyculis.

Do you know whyt kylled the Dynosyrs? The Yce Age!

I respect any movie that feels like they gave it to a completely new writer every 10 pages.

I assume he'd work remotely to honor PscyNette.

I just wish the show was more focused. That's not to say that I wanted it to be just about Nucky or about any other character, but I felt it wandered way too much and and took too many detours with less-interesting characters/characters that should have been gone seasons ago.

It irritates me because this is one of my favorite parts of American history. I'd say it would be like if Weiner skipped from the Kennedy assassination to 1971, except we know that the people in BWE are having truly stupendous adventures during the time skip.

You like the Van Alden Baptism scene? Well, we'll give him one violent outburst a season, but in exchange you have to watch his marital strife until he gets to stand in the background of scenes with people of note and interest. Oh, you're not going to get any more time with the characters you actually do like.
