Yeah I think they probably went, "tenor virtuoso" and decided scaling down size wise was better than sacrificing voice. Jackman is Broadway tested. Crowe… not so much. Although even as Wolverine I've thought Jackman just too pretty to be 100% believable as gruff and primal.
