The "more white dicks" line was legitimately great.

It was only a single issue (and I'm sure it's long out of print), but Evan Dorkin's "Dork" #7 is one of my favorite autobiographical comics.

Great interview subject, AV Club!  Now just come up with an excuse to interview John Severin, too.

That storyline was important for the show to do, as they were sowing the seeds for it as early as the pilot.  Losing Rory to her parents, allegiance-wise, was always Lorelai's biggest fear.

I have no idea whether that Cowboy Bebop writeup has any bearing on the show, but anything that prompts me to listen to "Chips Ahoy" gets a thumbs up.

Speed Racer is pure fun, mainlined into your veins, but contra Noel, I don't think it's all style, no substance.  I mean, it's a kids movie with a thematically-relevant "Jupiter and Beyond the Infinite" ending.

Whedon would eventually scratch that Xander-killing itch in SERENITY.
