I found a lot of scenes in this episode more cringe-inducing than funny for some reason. Especially Shawn's diatribe at the awards ceremony at the beginning. There were still some good bits, though. The whole "Thunderdome" gag was funny. The dancing scene was well done.

The Avengers, 1998, Uma Thurman and Ralph Fiennes.  Rabin considered doing a joint review of it and Darby O'Gill and the Little People as a Sean Connery flops retrospective. (Or was it Finding Forrester?)

At the bank I was making a deposit and the teller, this guy, was like,
“What do you do?” I said, “Um, I’m in entertainment.” And he was like,
“Yeah, but what do you do?” It wasn’t because he recognized me or
anything, but I don’t think it’s appropriate that he asked me that.

Yep.

RABIN!  You signed my copy of Year of Flops and PROMISED ME YOU'D REVIEW THE AVENGERS (the 1998 monstrosity with Uma Thurman and Ralph Fiennes)!!  You can't go back on your worrrrdd! [sobs, starts drinking]

If I'm not already crying, I definitely lose it when the bagpipes turn into a full orchestra as Spock travels toward the planet.  Oh man!  Just give me a sec… something must be in my eye…

Somebody once said "It's like they're posing for a photo that no one's taking." I think that's what's so annoying about it.  Just exactly why are they posing?

Totally agreed, Astral.  Your toaster analogy is spot on. I found the ending sort of disturbing, when Olga didn't seem to have even a moment of doubt about accepting him as husband 3.0.

I'm still hoping that's the Chief's reaction, if she ever finds out.

When I see www.plentyoffish.com, I keep thinking it's calling itself "Plenty Offish."  Which strikes me as a terrible name for a dating site.  (Is "offish" as a slang term for "antisocial" just a Wisconsin thing?)

The McWraps are actually pretty decent.  And have real vegetables in them and everything.  They're healthier than most of the other stuff on the menu, and stuff.

1. I've been gaining weight, and now my boss is pushing hard to get me to take water aerobics at a gym. I'm definitely going to do something, but hell if I'm going to spend $$ on a gym membership.  For water aerobics.  Since he's the boss, I told him "I'll think about it, thanks!" and a few hours later he reported

Nicely done.  Literally LOL'd.

Nicely done.  Literally LOL'd.

Mel Brooks' Silent Movie, 1976.  Viva la Marty Feldman.

She wasn't bad in Eurotrip.

You've had other people offer you a Moon Pie?  Your friends are cooler than mine.

That's true, I was just using Nathan's terminology.  But it sure seemed to me like they're setting things up so that Nolan has to deal with having stronger feelings for Amanda than her sister.

There's a lot of promise to this show. I hope Rowan gets a chance to review it… at least the first half of the season to see what happens.

I was wondering the same thing. Rats.
