This wasn't the best AVQ&A, but it may have been the most interesting.

I admit my interest in R.E.M. waned quite some time ago. I think it's sort of how it works with bands like this.

I think I saw Steel Pole Bathtub live once. I swear I did … it was in the Twin Cities; so i can't recall if it's a Cities band, or was touring and played there.

I have heard of Scruffy the Cat!

Sloan was the best entry in this one.

Max Factor

At one time I had the episodes loosely ranked, and I think "The Busboy" (end of Season 2?) is as boring as any episode in the series, and "The PR Day" was near the bottom, for me.

Two '93 albums on my top-20 '90s albums list:
1. "Transmissions From the Satellite Heart," The Flaming Lips
2. "Phaseshifter," Redd Kross

A lot of bitching about the writers in this series choosing "favorite music year" that happened to come when they were age 17-20, or whatever.

I'm  a couple days late to the Hatefest

" … there's something in the combination of their songcraft, their musicianship, their image, their public relations, their timing, and the conditions that existed in the culture of the 1960s that produced a reaction which couldn't have been predicted and probably can't be duplicated, except by some other chance

I keep trying to post on specific Pop Pilgrims "episodes"
But AV Club switches me away to a different entry before i can do it.

I'd kinda like to see
the other 200 or so working designs for the cover.

Using the photo above as reference:

They never said they were giants, as in, "we're giants," and not even that they might be giants, such as "we might be giants." They were talking about "they." "They" as in "they," not "they" as in "us" (meaning them).

This probably doesn't merit a separate thread, but
Based on a couple of comments so far:

Evil Lincoln — to clarify (and which was glossed over inadvertently in the article) … nothing from "hotel california" was included, because that album hadn't been released.

Warren Oates, you made two observations that points to the, for lack of a better term, "uneasiness" that a lot of educated rock listeners have about the Hugeness of the Eagles: one is influence on their music; the other is the influence of their music.

Douche-Shine my pants … definite top 10 B&B line.

Elvis Costello?
It could be a matter of some great songs on each album but not enough beginning-to-end. And I can't claim his music has aged as well as I expected.
