Time gives me a mixed perspective on "Three's Company."

That's one of the fascinating things about time slots from pre-'80s-ish TV shows — it's unthinkable that a network would load-up on Saturday nights (I think Friday nights were even quality-heavy during some years).

Wow!
Just got done with the article, so before I consume the comments or micro-assess the piece, I just gotta say, this was a great read — pretty good overview, mixing depth and width.

Up on the Sun
Noel hit it with "Up on the Sun."

I wanted to post about the savage beast/breast thing, but I realized almost nobody knows "beast" is incorrect anymore.

I think Inventory might have work better here, too. But I prefer that type of format to Q&A in general.

I have to admit, that drives me nuts, too, but I'm sort of in the writing biz.

OMG, "Chuck and Buck" was squirm-inducing. I don't normally use "OMG," which should prove my sincerity.

The teenager-threat in that episode of "Louie" was definite discomfort. Perhaps it makes me a geek of similar age, but I could totally imagine being in a similar situation and reacting the same way (the "I wish this situation would just end" — not the "follow him to his house" part).

Has AV done "Better Late Than Never" for VU?

@Teenage Fanclub Fan
"If you love the Big Star sound, I'd recommend checking out Teenage Fanclub, who could pass for a Big Star tribute act but are pretty awesome in their own right."

Compared to that youtube clip, he was relatively respectful.

Actually, Nipples, I prefer Cher The Actress to Cher the Pop Singer.

Bah!: I disagree about Mag Earwhig. Maybe I was reaching GBV burnout by then, but I still say there are only 5 really good songs on that one:
Sad if I Lost It
Bulldog Skin
I Am Produced
Jane of the Waking Universe
Mute Superstar

@teadoust: Yes, he was good in Eternal Sunshine … once again, the movie overrode his persona but could also use bits of that persona to its own ends.

Astral Weeks vs. Moondance
Astral Weeks, most definitely — the album cover, that is.

"Favorite Who Song" is the only way to assess the band fairly, because there's so much chaff in the "conceptual" when, really, they should be assessed for individual songs ("Who's Next" is the only wall-to-wall non-best-of/compilation studio album that holds up to the band's singles output).

I disagree, Tasha, with the Jim Carrey/Truman Show assessment
He did a lot of the usual Carrey-isms, but the story was strong enough that it felt within context. (Sort of the opposite of "Liar Liar") … and, perhaps unfairly, it was one of those movies when he went from "milking his TV persona" to "expanding his roles."

Candelabra — brilliant. I wouldn't have thought of that.

@Tyrannorabbit.
