I think it's actually more varied and texturally complex than their other stuff.  The lighter bits make the heavy stuff hit harder, the occasional doomy stretch offsets the blazing fast bits, the pretty stuff gives context to the wild mathy riffing, etc.  Give it time.

Start with The Call of the Wretched Sea.  The new one has a bit too many Layne Staley clean vocals for my taste.  They're a strong contender for Heaviest Band Ever.

I was surprised about how good that Cloudkicker was.  I never liked the whole Djent thing too much, but it didn't sound much like that stuff at all.  Even the guy's previous albums haven't done much for me, but this one is warm and spacious - as opposed to the super-digital, hyper-compressed sound of most of djenty…
