Personally I like "absurd levels of fantastical self-aggrandizement" in my rap music but Rick Ross doesn't even really do that.  It's just the same ol' coke/blowjob/money shit, only now you can hear his heart give out a little between every bar.

AV Club's Hip Hop reviews are consistently wrong-headed and embarrassing.  Loud does a good job of rounding up metal and punk stuff - I don't see why they couldn't do something similar with rap.
