Dolly for President
or queen. Either way.

congratulations Alison
I think this means you are now officially "elite." How does it feel?

Hey Kate. I actually don't know whether the real-time aspect will hurt or help the show—it's hard to imagine moving forward since the producers had a lot more time with the first episode, and maybe that extra time to work on it wasn't a good thing.

Are there any teams that don't torture their fans ?

Please rescind this grade Keith
I haven't seen the movie and never will but I'm giving it an F-.

Ug, that Vice Versa movie looks so pointless. Don't you think it only works when it's two actors who have enough identifiable character traits that one can impersonate the other? I can't imagine what an impression of Ryan Reynolds would look like. I guess you just try to look handsomer?

I still like him a lot but I wouldn't buy a ticket to see a movie just for him.

Charlie Day
is the only reason why I hope this movie is any good and would ever see it.

Seems to have perfected that tone of equal opportunity offensiveness where if you find it offensive, you're a piece of whiny PC shit.

He was still alive—I read it as Marlene sent Thomas back from the dead to be a buddy to Cathy. Sniff…

In the episodes I've seen so far they make her look "sick" by dressing her in grays and by giving her slightly less makeup but she's still Laura Linney so she's all peaches and cream and golden shiny hair. Not that I think she needs to starve herself to be true to the role, but I didn't know whether she looked close

Letterman?!
I had no idea he played Dave in The Late Shift. Is that movie any good? How was JMH?

on the other hand I sort of respected (? that's not really the right word, obviously) that time he got arrested for solicitation and his justification was "I wanted some head," as opposed to spewing some bullshit and putting himself in rehab and going on an apology tour.

I have been really loving me some Charles Barkley lately. I know he's not a pro athlete anymore but he's been interesting and unpredictable and sort of lovable even when he's kind of an idiot. This probably sounds macabre but you can tell that he's going to inspire some really delightful obituaries when he leaves

incidentally
Elvis Costello was the subject of a deep infatuation of mine for a few years but it pains me to admit that I can't get into his talk show. I think I'd prefer it if his guests interviewed HIM.

good question
I personally like for my sports idols, for instance, to come off as nice guys (and preferably ones who don't just spew banal sports cliches). But if I read an interview with Madonna where she'd be an endless font of positivity and 110%, I'd be suspicious and unsatisfied. Prince for me falls between

Donnie Darko is amazing the first time but gives diminishing returns, IMO

me concur. I never realized how much I like him until those "Librarian" movies come out and I thought "I probably won't watch this but I hope people have a good time with them," sort of how I feel about this new project.

That IS my slimmer self. My old picture was two of me.

No, I review the weight loss shows because I'm legitimately interested. I work at a nutrition journal by day and weight loss/maintenance is sort of a weird interest of mine (I used to be heavier, etc). So I actually am curious to see which shows can pull off portraying weight issues in a thoughtful, realistic way.
