Don't worry, once Hillary fixes the First Amendment you'll never have to worry about being exposed to opinions you don't like.

Clearly what this poster needs is a trigger warning.
(grins, eyes drifting toward camera)

Finally, someone who gets it.

It sounds like you're conflating the First Amendment right to free speech, which is at issue only when the government or its agents censor someone, with freedom of speech in the normative sense. Legally, yes, Twitter, Facebook, et al, can censor or ban whomever they want. But whether they can do so and still hold

You could have just said, "If you don't like, don't read it," and made the same point in far fewer words. You wouldn't be wrong; I would just say that if they (the AV Club) don't want their readers criticizing their news judgment, they probably shouldn't have a Disqus.

They couldn't afford me.

It's moral grandstanding to get that upset about the nasty things people on social media say about celebrities. It's indicative of a need to get outside more.

Plenty of non-Ghostbusters-related content here. Have you sampled something from the AV Club's Donald Trump menu?

Fair enough. I would say the flip side of that is also true: Leslie Jones, being a highly-paid actress in one of the most (regrettably, but almost certainly by design,) talked-about films of the year, makes her situation with a handful of miscreants on a forum that has millions of users unworthy of a Newswire.

I'm upvoting this because it's the most civilized response I've gotten so far.

I already acknowledged she had legitimate reason to be hurt, and I wish things weren't that way. But that, however, doesn't legitimize the implied premise that Twitter's reaction to everything — and the reaction to Twitter's reaction — deserves a write-up but in reality is probably just a waste of everyone's time.

Their sender? Richard Roeper.

I hear it from time to time around here when I post something that goes against the hivemind's moral grandstanding. Doesn't bother me in the least.

And I don't care what you think about what I think. Hey! Common ground!

I'm still not seeing how I'm characterizing myself as the "victim" here. It sounds to me like you just outed yourself as a de facto racist and are trying to pound the table.

Oooh, so original.

Is this news hook here that Leslie Jones's feelings are (understandably) hurt, or that Twitter's full of randos posting worthless comments? If either, I'm gonna pass on this nothingburger and just enjoy coffee and an orange for lunch. Richard Roeper got death threats for writing an unfavorable review of this film.

Hello, FBI?…

C'mon, Mr. Disgruntled … don't tell me you weren't excited to see Cap 3! And that you weren't nonchalantly resigned to see X-Men Apocalypse!

But that's like saying Bloodrayne 2 was a modest success because its box-office haul was in line with what one would expect from an Uwe Boll film.
