Did you see that the Twins were added into the opening animations this episode? I hope they continue to incorporate new locations that way. It's a good way to orient folks to the geography besides being a cool thing to notice.

Roger Ebert hails 'The Opening of Misty Beethoven' as a paragon of 70's cinema. Good luck not paying 50 bucks for it though.

SOOOOOO many choices. Once you get a little behind it's just easier to retreat to the familiar sounds. Besides, all the time I would have been wasting keeping current on music I was able to spend watching TV…and parenting.

New Vonnegut Museum
FYI to those in the midwest: The definitive Vonnegut Museum/Library is about to open in downtown Indianapolis (his hometown). I took a preview tour and it's very nice. Lots of personal writings, belongings, sketches, etc. It's on Senate Ave.

It took watching this film to figure it out, but Rutger Hauer and Anthony Hopkins could be brothers. They look alike, and occupy that same edge-of-insanity countenance.

I saw this over the weekend. While the mule with glowy red eyes falls well short of scary, it was more to look at than the rest of the movie up to that point. The cheap startle-scares were all we had before and after.

Let me add that there are other limitations to the one-hour TV doc format. Chiefly is the budget available for such projects. Production companies must be prepared to make a huge investment in these programs and hope for some kind of backend success on DVD sales. Re-enactments, eye-popping graphics, original music,…
