It's strange, it used to not show "EDITED" earlier for me, after the Disqus conversion, but now, even for the slightest edit, it shows up for me.  Yesterday, I was just fixing my italics formatting on a post, and boom, "edited."

Sorry for nitpicking, but it's best not to use Italians for that example, as most of them identify more with their region then with their nation as a whole, even after more than a century and a half since unification.
