I'm rewatching the show now, and it has mostly held up well.  I love the heady themes such as diplomacy, religion & journalism that DS9 tried and failed to cover well.  The dialogue & music accompanying it are cheesy at times, but more often than not, they are very poignant.

There was also the loyalty to his boss.  Sisko "needed" him, in O'Brien's words.

That blasphemy line reading certainly seems ridiculous and out of place, but Kira & Dax were impersonating vedeks with those robes, which I would assume is some sort of low level blasphemy.

I've successfully eradicated that show from the memory.  Damn this thread for reminding me that that was a thing that existed and disappointed!

Agreed.  It's especially disappointing coming after the highs of last season.
