6 episodes would've been perfect. The riot lasting an entire season is not a bad idea but 13 is too much for it.

That's what I'm concerned about - Seasons 1-4 felt meticulously planned, but with Season 5 I felt like they didn't really know where to go with the riot and things got messy. Now I'm getting that feeling again - I mean our options are:

No one is saying that they don't deserve punishment. But there's a difference between "being punished" and "being treated as sub-human."

Yeah the ending was thrilling but ultimately unsatisfying. It mostly just seemed like they wanted yet another "twist."

Honestly considering most of the show's major characters were the ones trapped in the pool I wouldn't be surprised if Season 6 took place entirely in the four seconds before the SWAT team arrived.

There are good parts and bad parts. Not going to spoil anything but for me things start to go really sour in episodes 9/10 thanks to a certain plotline which is easily the worst thing the show has ever done. I heard the ending is strong though.

My favorite part of Orange is the New Black S5 is the prison nurse who is apparently completely oblivious to the riot happening around him and inexplicably manages to remain calm, clean and professional the entire time .

I never thought Vee herself was all that strong of a character but the way they used her to analyze the other characters in the prison was great. That's what's missing with Piscatella. It just feels like torture porn.

Episodes 9 and 10 are the nadir of the entire series so far. The Piscatella storyline is disturbing without any real purpose and as the review says, his backstory does little to explain it. It just seems pointless and does not mesh well with everything else happening in this episode…all of which is also pretty weak.

I don't know if they were trying to be political in Season 1, but they were definitely were by Season 4.

Yeah this was a really bad episode. This season has been messy with some high points but this was all lows.

I am currently in the midst of an OITNB S5 binge. This season is a little bit of a slog, to be honest, but it has its moments. The "3 days taking place over the course of an entire season" is making the show suffer majorly from Netflix bloat, which it has generally resisted up until now.

Totally missed that!

Piper only has 3 months left in her sentence so they should be in late 2014 by now, which would be after the Michael Brown and Eric Garner killings.

I was hoping to see Gretchen pop up on OITNB this season.

It's been a while since I've seen Janae's initial flashback but I feel like there might be some slight continuity errors with it…kind of weird this one didn't mention her running skills at all since it was apparently such a major part of her high school identity, no?

If you are that sensitive about spoilers then you need to avoid reading any sort of media related to the show altogether. The show literally announced this themselves.

Mad Men S6 felt like a placeholder season meant to bridge into the show's final stretch. I agree that it plays better on rewatch. It sort of reminds me more of OITNB S3 in that respect which largely served as set-up for Seasons 4/5 (or the most recent season of The Americans.)

For the record other Netflix shows also have this issue (UKS definitely does). I guess it's easier to keep a timeline if you're airing consistently for longer stretches of the year…?

Well, a little over a year has passed in the show's timeline (Alex said Piper has 3 months left of her sentence) so it'd technically it'd be like late 2014 by now.
