So are they actually following up with the night shift thing? Because next week is the New Girl crossover and it…doesn't look like night during the promos.

I don't know, I don't think Trump looked good even from the "how much attention is this trainwreck going to get?" stance. He just looked weak and unprepared. He may have been a giant piece of shit through-out the primary debates but he was at least more charismatic than a lot of those boring bozos, but Hillary mopped

I'm from Jersey, he definitely sounds a typical shore-area Jersey guy to me.

True, but maybe they can add a little blurb to the What's On Tonight articles like "feel free to discuss any of these shows in our comments section below" or something? A lot of WOT commenters are doing it already, maybe making it more "official" could direct even more people there.

I think open comments sections would be a really good idea. I can understand not every show needing weekly coverage (though one of the things that made TV Club stand out in its Todd-era prime was the attention nearly EVERY show got, but I understand that's not sustainable) but it does suck to not have places to

I'm not a huge fan of the show but considering how much talk it gets in critical circles it's kind of embarrassing to me that the AV Club isn't covering it anymore. This is one of the most critically beloved shows on TV so it not getting coverage by TV Club does not say great things about the state of the site's TV

I don't think the show is really as "important" as it thinks it is. It's basically your typical privileged LA white people dramedy, only with a trans character (played by someone who isn't even trans, which will probably make the show look dated as fuck in 5-10 years.) If that's your jam then I can get why you'd like

Yeah it seems purely business-driven now. It always was to an extent but I feel like the "old" TV Club would at least try to give shows more worthy of coverage their due even if they weren't generating giant loads of comments.

Also The Middle.

Do people really think America Ferrara is annoying in this? Her character is pretty subdued. I like her a lot and think she plays 'exhausted retail worker' really well.

The Middle actually made a character-based storyline out of its Disney World episode. It was still a commercial, sure, but it fit into the shows' world and wasn't too distracting. This episode of black-ish just felt like a straight up ad.

Also Disney World is pretty expensive. Not exactly a peasant's vacation.

I thought the premiere was really good but there's no AV Club review for me to register these thoughts. What am I supposed to do?!

The finale review got a decent amount of comments…I'm sure if this was the old AV Club they would've at least tried it, but we have to save money for fast food articles or something.

This new TV season feels different with the TV Club being such a shell of its former self. It used to be such a cool way to interact with people watching the same shows as you, and it was cool to see that even simple ABC family sitcoms had people with opinions as passionate as those reviewing giant comic book shows or

I personally don't think so! I'm just saying it's not hard to see a watered down version of the show where it is. But I have faith in it.

Similarly I am watching a 2008 episode of 30 Rock and it seems to eerily predict a lot of Trump's campaign (it's the one where Jack tries to get Tracy to shill for the Republican party and one of their proposals is "build a 2000 foot wall to keep Mexico out.")

I agree and I think a lot of it depends on whether this show wants to be a "typical network sitcom" or go for something a bit more. It's not hard to see a ho-hum version of this show that's just Eleanor doing something mean only to learn a lesson by the end of every episode but I could also see something that goes for

Shows like Community and BoJack Horseman started with fairly similar "can they be GOOD?!" premises and eventually outgrew them by either digging deeper into their character's neuroses (in BoJack's case) or analyzing/exploring the other characters in equal fashion (in Community's case). I'm guessing Good Place will

Yeah I really wanna know more about the other characters. Also, an afterlife where 99% of people are damned for eternity is kind of fucked up and Eleanor is justified to question it. I would like to see that element analyzed/brought back up a bit. (Of course, it makes sense that it wouldn't happen in the pilot.)
