Eh, I won't miss it. Voiceovers are rarely necessary, especially in sitcoms.
So…we're not getting weekly reviews for this show anymore?
This is my problem though: as it stands now, Trump is a serious candidate. Yeah, that'll probably change, but right now he's a guy who is very popular, has a lot of power and is saying some terrifying things. So instead of inviting him to Pal Around Like A Bro, people like Colbert need to either ignore him or grill…
That was seriously cringe-worthy. I think Trump is just such a troll that he's incapable of being reasonably brought down. Can we stop inviting him onto talk shows now?
Nah, that show is Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.
It should do pretty big numbers at least initially, but it feels kinda…dated? Like, the Office/Modern Family angle feels tired by this point, as does the "inside showbiz" story. That angle would've seemed cool in 2009 but now, eh. It's going to need to graduate beyond "Muppets but modern!" to sustain itself.
The Christmas one was the finale, but it's been renewed for a second season.
I agree, but that's what makes him even scarier to me.
Colbert was far tougher on fuckin' Bernie Sanders then he was on Trump. Huge letdown.
Clara worked really well off of Capaldi. Their opposite energies bounced off of each other. I think 11 and Clara were just too similar to be a good match - the best Doctor/companion pairings allow the companion to serve as kind of a foil for the Doctor (10/Donna and 11/Amy are good examples, and 12/Clara had a similar…
Just like Season 2 of Community!
I will say that if you finish the season, a lot of these criticisms are…I won't say addressed, but make more sense in context.
The show didn't really make any of these points. It made a few lazy comparisons between PC culture and frat culture and called it a day. If the episode had actually made an argument this convincing, I would have some respect for it.
I don't think this is a show that could run for years and years but 1 or 2 more seasons sounds about right.
I was so scared he was going to kill his dad during that scene in his office. I don't know why every time his dad appears on screen I assume he's going to die, but so be it.
Yeah, that's kind of what bummed me out about this episode. There is totally some great satire to mine from the idea that a bunch of white privileged assholes are yelling at everyone about white privilege as if they're exempt from it. But they just never went there. Whatever "satire" was there was lazy and YouTube…
Matt and Trey aren't lazy as workers and there are still flashes of greatness in South Park, but when it comes to social commentary, they aren't trying very hard anymore.
I definitely agree that there's some valid criticisms of Caitlyn Jenner to be made in regards to her privilege. And yeah, it's too bad this episode wasn't ballsy enough to make them. They almost went there, but didn't quite make it.
That's true too. It's like when the AV Club posted an article questioning the impact of a rape scene in Game of Thrones and fanboys took it as if the article's title was "GAME OF THRONES IS EVIL AND ANYONE WHO DISAGREES MUST BE MURDERED."
