All of this needs to be rastafied by at least 10%

A.K.A. the L.A. crowd philosophy.

Maybe you just hate women?

I figured Roger Goodell of all people would know something about evil in a powerful organization and overcharging audiences for two hours of mediocre entertainment.

You know it's bad when Roger Goodell is claiming the moral high ground.

I'm into the "a few too many long weekends" look Zooey Deschanel has going in that top screen grab.

No.

Lena Dunham turned into a young Donna Shalala so gradually, I hardly noticed.

How about some DMT?

She's not described as ugly in the book, more as a person who went from being a slinky, ingenue-ish girl to a young adult with the broad backed, husky build of a softball player. And it's this transformation that (partially) informs her pathology and motivations for doing what she does.

I almost added a caveat to my comment to ward off this kind of reply. Part of Merry's pain/dysfunction in the book is being the homely daughter of two attractive people. A bad haircut and posture in the movie won't cut it.

I'm actually reading this book right now and was wondering if someone would try to adapt it. Also, isn't Merry supposed to be homelier than Fanning could ever hope to be?

I made the mistake of seeing this film on New Year's Day while in a hungover, emotionally fragile state and was subsequently bummed out by all the cruelty on display.

But where will I get my poorly impersonated 70s musician fix?

I did not understand Oliver Cooper's casting at all. Maybe if Elliot Gould and Kathy Najimi were playing his parents. Rick Rath, god. I had forgot all about that.

Said no one, ever. [And I liked (earlier) Californication.]

Also, rumor mill is that Adam McKay made AM2 in exchange for Paramount financing The Big Short.

Superficial observation coming up hereā€¦

I liked Wareham as the ayahuasca shaman in While We're Young, but I thought he was a little flat in Mistress America.

Gerwig was great in the films mentioned, but I much preferred Lola Kirke's character in Mistress America; it was interesting to see loneliness explored like that on screen. Also, it should have been Chris Eigeman and not Dean Wareham as the neighbor in Connecticut.
