That's why the Smithsonian's so great; they've got all the best museums in DC, in my opinion, and they're all free. (Though I grew up going to them, so I'm pretty biased.) The new American History Museum isn't as fun as the more cluttered older version, though.

Oh, man, that is actually pretty impressive - I have the kind of sense of direction where I can get helplessly lost 10 miles from my house, so it sounds like that went way better than me driving would have.
