I think the switch will happen because the editing has shown too much backstory around it for it to just fizzle. Ex. All the talk about Monica being in the alliance in the returnees* camp, Monica feeling bad for Brad, etc. We wouldn't need those details if the drama were to just fizzle out (unless it is for promo

Brad had no other move at this point (he needed three votes to go somewhere else, perhaps his voting Ciera might convince Caleb in the re-vote to

Yup! This is the first week I watched on DVR and it made it that much greater. Even watching it semi-live (15 minutes behind) is great.

@avclub-327af0f71f7acdfd882774225f04775f:disqus Oh, for sure. I meant going forward if they *must* keep RI without the Blood vs. Water dynamic. It was confusing for me to use the J/C stuff as an example.

Nah, they just need to do these things:
1) Fast fwd the RI challenges so they are half as long.
2) Save the cutesty RI shit for that episode they are with additional footage (don't waste my time on John/Candice time capsule shit).
3) Exit interviews!

I think once the bro alliance was bro-ken to get rid of sex god John, it became pretty arbitrary to maintain (if John, why not me?). Brad's mistake, to me, was booting John so early.

I'm hoping it's not that on the nose (that one will eventually beat the other) and that it's mostly just a story to get us through this part of the season.

Aras has lapped himself in his original season for sure. That being said, nobody compares to John.

I only sort of agree with @avclub-a1967e6de4ca99fb2635d94b99453928:disqus  and @JudgeReinhold:disqus . I don't think the reward challenges add very much, but I do think bundling rewards with immunity pre-merge helps the winning team steamroll the other one. The family members, for example, might have had a better shot

I'm curious why they didn't just vote him out, then, instead of Candice.

I get the sense it's just an old school (pre-Samoa)/new school divide and that they probably had 5 with Rupert but he Rupert-ed it. Not sure where Candice falls in this, though, but I think the fact that Tina would work with Rupert again speaks to the idea of my point.

It was also introduced in one of the worst seasons ever. That's partially why I hated it (plus, I never really loved Exile Island much either).

Yes! This episode felt really rushed to me and that's totally the reason why. It felt fast and I was expecting a tie or something at tribal council because the vote just felt way early. Stupid RI!

I didn't hate him in HvV because he explained best why Sandra should win. He was total trash in All-Stars, though.

I prefer to think of Gervase as pure. What I mean is, he's of a reality TV generation where there's little self-awareness, very little affectation. A jerkface, sure, but an honest, real representation of somebody we all know (though may not like).

@avclub-accc518d3a7ff21f1a99dc00802eabc3:disqus  If it's anything like Virginia, you take what you can get!

That was my guess too, though I was nonetheless impressed each time one ball made it in during the challenge.

I have found this season to be pretty referential to past episodes, so I think that would have been fitting. However, yea, I agree that the Leela's-mutanthood-has-stupid-yet-HILAR-side-effects thing isn't that funny.

Agreed. I feel this most when Bender steps into an overly murderous zone, which I think takes the show into a too cynical place. Can't really explain it now, but the Professor has definitely stated multiple times how important the ship is.

Was he?! I just figured that was his style.
