I remember the Elvis Costello albums on Ryko that had bonus tracks appended to the end of the album had an extended section of silence to alleviate this problem.

maybe they actually did their research and originally ONLY had 1985 artists/bands mentioned but some studio exec told them to name drop Blondie. i'm sure the video wasn't their idea either.
