As I was reading about this episode, my heart rate genuinely went up. I actually stopped reading about halfway through Christ, did that episode freak me out.

I said this in other comments but I always thought of it as his pretzel sweater.

And then Kotto's take to him—so good.

Since seeing this film, I can only sing this song Grodin style.

He is and has some of the best lines.  Also wears a sweater with sort of pretzel on it but it was very hip at the time.

I have watched this movie many many times and think of it often.  In both cases, I laugh out loud.  Just remembering the "I can't fly" scene recently.  And the entire supporting cast—an amazing who's who of character actors.  Yaphet Kotto slow burns worth the price of admission alone.
