One of the show's strong points is that it quickly drops the stuff that isn't working so hang in there.

Dichen Lachman got astoundingly good astoundingly quickly, especially considering she was once the worst actor on Australian soap Neighbours (and being the worst actor on Australian soap Neighbours is quite a feat.)
Skip ahead to episode 6, Lost Girls. It really picks up the pace from there.
Oops. Yes, I did mean to type Stefan. I blame Damon's hypnotic vampire influence for getting in my head.
Ah, I was just thinking the same thing. Scrolled down. You'd already said it.
That school is all dances, no classes.
I must say Alaric/Damon's sub-dom dynamic took me by surprise. But it was entertaining. The evil half-mad laugh was very 80s, you're right. At least Evil Alaric doesn't talk with an English accent. (I wonder Kol's didn't tip off Jeremy? Not that I'm suggesting there aren't posh, antiquated English gents dotted about…
I for one am glad we did not have to sit through the 1920s decade dance. Thank you, show.
I might have misremembered, but I think they wrote that song after their teenage babysitter (who was Little Eva of Locomotion fame) showed up at their house beaten black and blue by her man and proud of it because to her those bruises showed how much he loved her. (That "if he didn't care for me, I could have never…
Forbrydelsen II - Saw it a while ago so my memories aren't that fresh. I enjoyed it, but was glad it was only 10 episodes as I don't think they could have sustained that storyline for 20. (The original 20 hours, though excellent, dragged a bit at times, especially as there wasn't a sunny day among them.)
Thanks! I had forgotten Rose's pretty pony dream.
I liked that, too. A lesser actor might have delivered the sarcasm very snarkily, but Klaus just so damn pleased with himself. It was adorable.
You reinterpreted his Finn staking in a more Freudian way?
I enjoyed his little self-satisfied eyeroll when he was being faux humble about his expertise in torture. He makes being a psychopath seem so cute.
I must have blacked out during last week's episode (the piles of dead founding family members littered about me suggest this) but how does the mind-invading daydream-creating power work? Is it a facet of compulsion? And how was Sage able to use it on an original?
I liked that Mr Jay's VIRGINPHONE! message came from inside Troy and Abed's Dreamatorium. It set the tone for the episode. (If only it had been an evil panel with little felt goatees stuck to their chins.)
Eboni was a bitch, but it must have stuck in the craw when praise was heaped upon Kyle for being so "relatable"… to an all white focus group, one of which was kinda racist.
Yes. I dislike when teenagers on TV have better sex than I did as a teen… or indeed have now.
I'm surprised Seymone didn't get the 'you need to model verb' speech because she wasn't modelling, just sitting there being photographed. She looked like she'd been dumped in the picture. I also thought Azmarie's picture, though amazing, could have been even better if she had tilted her head, but maybe I'm being…
Paulina was my favourite judge. She was delightful *sigh* and also very hands on. (I'm sure Twiggy's IRL-nice, but I found her TV-bland.)
