@avclub-a5ac0c14445b5d44dfcb9e09b6d1ca9f:disqus No =) But that's what I love about this show - it moves so fast and is so crazy entertaining, that it doesn't give you pause to think about the stuff that doesn't make 100% sense. I just go with it and enjoy it hugely. What I really need to do is rewatch from the

>> Cassie is finally becoming a character with some agency

I think if there's anything I've learned from The Vampire Diaries, it's that dead witches are chatty. They yak it up in the afterlife, keep a watchful eye on the living and love vanilla candles (having a dead witch around is like having a motion-sensor security light that creates a spooky/romantic atmosphere.) So OW

The blood-tree was nifty.

Caroline and Tyler fairly slammed each other round the Lockwood Manor early on this season, IIRC. Vampire *and* werewolf sex - 2 for 1.

So wait. Cassie really did leave her book in her car?

Did Emily borrow Connor Paolo's (bizarre) cheeky blue-collar Brooklyn accent for that flashback?

Simpsons did it! too.

When Lucy showed up I thought something interesting was going to happen. And then it didn't. #myrecap

Jake! Nick drowned. (Demonic serpents. Heather Barnes. Etc.)

>>Melissa is a total dishrag.

Yeah Initially, I thought they were going to open up the coffin and find Nina Dobrev in a blonde wig. (Another of Klaus's siblings. Did I imagine a Martha?) But I figured three roles would probably be overkill.

If they were ever going to make a spin-off, I vote for Caroline travelling around Europe, discovering art, truth, beauty, etc. (Having spent the last few years watching over-earnest vampires aching to get back to their humanity, I found Klaus's deathbed pep talk to Caroline refreshing and I'm waiting for them to pick

The first four aren't the best, but they do have Ian Somerhalder and his charismatic eyeball acting. He carries them.

After using his free period to dabble in blood rituals trying to bring his sister back from the undead, I thought he might be killed off because I couldn't see where they could take the character from there. (Plus the retconned friendship Bonnie hinted at a possible pairing, which. just. no.)

There was a wee look of panic flashed across Matt's befuddled puppydog face when Elena told him Caroline had called to say her dad was dead - as if to say, "Which ex-girlfriend do I support?" But being practically minded and rather a simple soul, he choose the one physically nearest.

I, too, have seen it and can confirm that it was a terrible, terrible film.
(I probably would have liked it when I was 12 though. 12 year old me was not very discerning.)

I agree with you about Willow because through seasons 1-3 she liked boys and she managed to have a healthy(ish) relationship with one and she was devastated when it ended. I always thought she fell in love with Tara, not lesbianism.
