The prose style is as tiresome as the point made therein. For every piece of popular entertainment disregarded as pap in it's time that goes on to become something of artistic value (ie Shakespeare) there are 10,000 pieces of entertainment disregarded as pap in its time that remain pap and are long forgotten.
