South Park was Right
Cursing has officially lost its effectiveness.

Highly Underrated
For years by REM's biggest fans and the band itself. I understand why the band felt that way (and they've changed their minds in recent years) - they had an incredibly shitty time recording it. But why the following album, which consists a cover song, an old song from their earliest days, an

It fits in perfectly with the Futurama universe. Star Trek IS FORBIDDEN TO BE EVEN MENTIONED, except all the times that it was. Job chips are mandatory and important, at least every once in a while. Futurama has always been consistently inconsistent.
(Besides which, Kidnappster had a booming business - it wasn't

Pretty much any other actress they could've chosen would've made Beth the 'least essential' character on the show.
They should announce her as they did in olden times: "Vicki Lewis IS Newsradio's Beth!"

Considering Dave's endless list of talents, I wouldn't be surprised if he had been the only one who could sing.

Janeane also hosted a Daria special.

But Lobsters is a semi-well-known commentator on AVClub, so his opinion is regarded at the highest levels of society, obviously.

Michael Clayton hit that nail square on the head.

I always love the idea that being voted prom king/queen = well-adjusted individual. That's the secret, popularity = stability!

I've always preferred the story of the record exec telling them that the Sex Pistols had just broken up and he wanted Johnny Rotten to be the new lead singer of Devo.

You're probably referring to the Now It Can Be Told live album. It was official, just poorly released.
The best Devo is the mixture of man and machine - and a drum machine goes too far in the latter direction.

Lucas? A nerd? Physicists (generally) hate Star Wars. Lucas knows jack shit about science; he was trying to recreate the old Flash Gordon serials, not write Dune.

The one flaw is that the ultimate scheme of the villian didn't make sense, but Doyle hung a lampshade on it by having Holmes acknowledge that he probably was concentrating on bumping off the heirs and worrying about how to inherit later.

I was enjoying the Historical Illuminatus, but I guess we're never going to get the last two novels…

Hmmmm….
For some reason, I get the impression that perhaps Jeremy might be holding back or altering a detail or two of the incident.

Doyle acknowledged Poe, though, as an inspiration. (Sometimes he is attributed to disliking Poe, but that was Holmes - not Doyle)

Eco's works are "dense", admittedly - but he has a fine sense of pop culture and humor that makes it palatable. He writes the best kind of novel - the kind you want to read again.

For some reason, there's something about trying to make sense of the timeline of Doyle's story that's like looking into the face of Cthulhu.
My personal favorite? For a story that Doyle accidentally set in 1892 - when Holmes was supposed to be absent from London - one timeline expert cheerfully put forth that the

League is probably better known for an alternate take on Moriarty (and Mycroft Holmes) than Sherlock.
Moriarty (or what's left of him) made an appearance in the most recent "League".

Watson repeatedly marrying is one of the many, many pitfalls of trying to sort out when each story happened. Honestly? It appears that he was only married twice, although the second time nothing is given about her.
