Your inability to recognize that setting up a mystery and have a character-driven story are not mutually exclusive is most puzzling - as is you weird apologia attempting to claim that "Lost" somehow never billed itself as having mysteries at its core is a little sad at this point. Some people have higher expectations

It felt like they were wasting more time adding additional mysteries in Season Six when they should've been wrapping them up in time for the last few episodes. I would've preferred, for instance, that the second half of the season basically be 'explanation time's over, it's the endgame'. That would've been fine.
I

Yes, we get it, CactusJack - you're the Insane Clown Posse and science is stupid. And you have no clue as to what 'cynicism' actually means.

Gosh, "Ummm", if you were paying attention maybe you noticed that I had mentioned that in the comments section of LAST WEEK'S EPISODE.
Dumbass. NEXT.

Sweet Hastur, people complaining about those wanting answers being obsessive nerds, and then splitting hairs over the usage of "purgatory"?
But I'm glad the TV commercials make perfect sense for you as far as the 'not-a-purgatory' goes.

Like I said before - they set up as if there was a mystery. Hey, remember a complicated map with all kinds of mysterious stuff on it? Sorry, but that didn't really scream "We're a character-driven drama only! No mystery here!"
Like BSG's completely false 'clues for Earth', LOST could've easily dispensed with the

I disagree. "Foucault's Pendulum" covered much of the same ground and turned out to be a strongly character-driven piece and a statement, in part, on the nature the search for meaning. And yet the arc of the story followed a path that stayed consistent in the method of telling that story.
Or, take "Planetary".

Fucking magic islands. How do they work?

I enjoyed it up to last week, although my interest was waning over this season. The ending doesn't change the enjoyment I had watching it in the past, but it certainly means I won't bother watching it again. I am actually disappointed about that, I would've liked for it to have been a series that I would've watched

Perfect, there's

And Karina pretty much sums it all up right there.

MST3K's ending made more sense, actually.

The ending reminded me of about three or four episodes of "The Twilight Zone". And the ending of BSG.

Explanation? What, are you some kind of ivory tower intellectual egghead? As the writers made clear from the beginning, there were no mysteries, no answers, and the entire series was character-driven. You're acting like they set up enigmas and teased you by implying that they would explain all.
If anything, the

And much like BSG, they not only didn't answer questions - fine, whatever - but they also threw in fake outs that were blatant lies. Come on, purgatory has fast food commercials? And "America's Most Wanted"? What, are we in purgatory too?
I call shannigans. Hell, I call shannon-igans.

Honestly, with the ending it doesn't really matter how they did it. A wizard did it.

Well, I'll give "Lost" this - at least they didn't rip off "Restaurant at the End of the Universe".

Lone, the science fiction elements turned out to be nothing more than scenery. The problem isn't that it turned out to be 'character-driven'. The problem is that it billed itself in part as a mystery that ended up consisting solely of red herrings.
As for the guy with the "wanting answers misses the point" screed,

Same thing with BSG - DON'T FUCKING PRESENT MYSTERIES AND THEN PRETEND THEY'RE MEANINGLESS.
I didn't expect them to answer all questions, but I didn't expect them to pull a "ha-ha, it WAS all about the characters after all."
LOST really was "The Longest Con", but at least I'm glad I didn't waste money buying any of the

Some of my favorite books, comics, movies etc. I first encountered when I kid and didn't fully get it, but intrigued me enough to get into whatever genre they represented.
You might not be able to get everything going in, say, "League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" or "Planetary", but you don't have to. The story is
