Miller disowned it in probably his best work ever, "The Dark Knight Strikes Again", followed by his own version of "Dark Victory" - his even more best work ever, "All-Star Goddamn Batman and Robin". All of which was 100% original. So I see your point.

I think you meant

The 'Long Halloween' and its sequels are, with the original animated series and the new movies one of the few enjoyable bits from the tangled mess of Batman.
It helps that Miller completely disowns 'Long Halloween', despite the fact that Loeb had it follow "Batman: Year One" - apparently it contradicted the

Don't forget the "Where Titans Meet" crossover of X-Force and Spider-Man just before they both jumped ship from Marvel. A wonderful summation of their weaknesses highlighted by their inability to be the least bit consistent. Salut!

His work on "Earth X" and its sequels is superb.

Sadly, the first regular comic-collecting I did was when Liefield's star was burning bright at Marvel… and fortunately he quickly went to Marvel. (The issue of X-Force that is mostly drawn by Mignola and framed by Liefield is probably the most embarassing expose of his lack of talent).

Futurama: 1980
It's a shame that Futurama's final appearance ever was Into The Wild Green Yonder.
The fact that Fox's upcoming show (that will be cancelled after two episodes) is also called "Futurama" is nothing more than an unpleasant coincidence.

RPGs
"Deadlands" is pretty steampunk, although it's merged with "Civil War era horror".

Old School Adventure Gamer
Good show all around. Puzzles were murder, although nowhere near as bad as the notoriously difficult Monkey Island II… which also had the poorest ending of all the games.
Nice to see Lucasarts is finally making up a little bit for sudden cancellation of all adventure games to focus on

Rommel, you magnificient son of a bitch - I read your book!

That was Number Five!

Adding my hope…
…for a speedy recovery for Maura Tierney.

Yeah, the Sierra games - with the exception of ones like Gabriel Knight - are more like examples about what not to do in adventure games.
Lucasarts eventual policy of not killing off the player was because of the sheer lethality of Sierra games.

Great Cthulhu, the AVClub gets the whiniest trolls on the Internet…

Max Headroom.

I'd have to say adventure games in general. Would Zork and Colossal Cave - the forefathers of the graphics games - exist without the MIT culture in the 1970s?

It really is the quintessential "America" - from the low-rent UHF station (which, in a fit of irony, Joel Hodgson was unable to appear in Weird Al's film "UHF" due to MST3K being picked up by a network), to the vast array of low- and high-brow jokes, to the Z-grade movies endemic to the drive-ins, to being totally

Your school was off the bell curve, then. Most public school's "popular" girls were airheads that would be busy praising Michael Bay, not burying him.

Rifftrax
I've heard the Rifftrax for this movie is one of the best ever…

Why do people insist on confusing 'fucking insane' with 'permanently stoned'?
