I think that stems from some very poor character development. None of the characters had clearly defined roles, other than either a pawn or manipulator. So the asides could be very dense, and a bit insulting. If there was more of a solid basis for these characters and their actions the side comments would've been more…

Yeah, that bothered me too. Especially since I do this stuff for a living. There's no way he'd be in DC running a campaign. He'd be on the ground, in-district, actually working.
