I definitely liked it, but I felt like it suffered from trying to be hipster-quirky. If all the quirk had felt natural and been toned-down, I would've loved it. I wholeheartedly agree that Plummer, Mcgregor and Laurent were fantastic, but I wish Plummer's character had gotten more screentime.

I'm aware that this is something of a minority opinion, but I thought Shepherd's Tale was heartrendingly incredible, especially for just being about twenty pages. I don't think it hurts the character at all, at least. This comes from someone with a thorough hatred of all Buffy-verse comics.

@avclub-6997a8bd0e1042b70b60c5c879a1780e:disqus Peter Pan is probably my favorite book; I've read it at least a hundred times over the years. The implications are much different there: Peter doesn't stay with Wendy at the end, though the Lost Boys do. Not growing up is shown to be sad and lonely for him.

His full name is actually Benedict Timothy Carlton Cumberbatch, which is
so exceedingly British I feel he should be knighted. And then of course
he would be Sir Benedict Timothy Carlton Cumberbatch.

Could someone tell me the best place to start on Mieville's work?

That could actually be good. Well, good-ish.

Clearly Lagavulin 16.

Like like like. So many likes.

Dammit, O'Neal, write a book!

I went into one of those weird, skanky off-brand 'boutiques' earlier and they were playing one of her solo songs entirely about the fashion of harajuku girls. Not only did she name drop her own clothing line, saying that harajuku girls would love it, but it was so musically bad and lyrically gross that I left. This

Why-kee-pee-die-ah says Paula Poundstone drove intoxicated with her foster kids in the car. Nothing about kiddy fucking. DUI with kids is quite a bit different. Or is wikipedia wrong?

Haven't seen The Shield (yet!) but Southland is incredibly good and ill-appreciated. One of the rare shows where the pilot is very similar to the rest of the series, so if you hate the pilot, you won't like the show.

If you do start from the beginning, keep in mind that NBC and TNT treat it differently. The first season from NBC is, in my opinion, worse, although it's still really good.

That has never mattered in the least.
