Saw in both in middle school (late 80s) and high school in small town Eastern Washington. I also had a high school teacher (strangely enough the definition of "hippie") who used to play us those "backward masking" tapes.

Guys Chicago had three lead singers: Terry Kath (rawest voice, awesome guitarist, blew off his head), Robert Lamm (the keyboardist), and Pete Cetera (high pitched voice, top notch bassist, but also destroyed the band with his ballads).
Plus if you don't think Kath was an awesome guitarist, check out "Liberation" the…

I work near the Tacoma Dome and since the weather was nice, I decided to walk home rather than take the bus. The area was crowded with jacked up pickups/women with horribly fake dye jobs and breasts/midaged men dressed like they're 15 and then I realized Nickelback was playing that day.

Nickelback played my home city of Tacoma this Saturday and it was the Bat Signal of douchedom. The guy wearing a "your face makes my penis soft" T-shirt was actually one of the less stupid guys going around.

Have the Carry On even been shown on American TV or available on Region 1 DVD? Hey AV Club if you want to do decent inventories do "20 British Cultural Icons Americans Never Heard Of".

God I remember when Bravo would do stuff like air two hour docs on Charles Mingus, and now you've got me all depressed.

One thing I never understood about "Suite Life" is how lamely the mom was written out. Mom takes a high priced nightclub gig and just leaves the kids on a yearlong cruise? How the hell wouldn't their dad or relatives demanded the kids be taken away?

I remember Lynn Redgrave being asked in the late 70s why she bothered going on game shows. She admitted the only reason she did it was so that she could do regional or touring theater; a single game show mention of her play would mean an instant sellout.

They covered Randy Newman, Harry Nilsson, Laura Nyro, and Hoyt Axton. Why the hell would you want to write your own songs if you can cover those people instead?

Do sports count as pop culture? If so, ditching my Monday afternoon college classes in '95 to watch the Mariners/Angels AL West playoff, the first time the M's ever made the postseason, was the smartest decision I've ever made. Of course you probably don't remember it because it was the day before the OJ verdict.

I hope you can find time for "Turn On", the Laugh-In knockoff that got cancelled after one showing in 1969. True the Paley Center collection is the only place I know that has the series, but wouldn't a pop culture nut like you find a reason to go there anyway?
