The Fountain…..it's easily my favorite Aronofsky film (and I love Aronofsky), and I legitimately think it's one of the greatest sci-fi films ever made.

Yup, plus they're a shortcut that just makes a lot of sense and results in something just as good. By all means use fresh tomatoes if you want, but there really isn't a whole lot of difference.
