Oil and manna, yes
but I would say the spice melange is more akin to opium than hemp…I don't think it says this in the movie, but I'm pretty sure if you stop taking the spice after you start, it can kill you. I think I read that in the glossary provided in the novel I checked out from my local library; "withdrawal

Well, Stand By Me didn't get Cory Feldman a lifetime pass. And he was a lot more memorable to me in that movie.

Fair enough, Hypno, but I liked the hell out of Walk the Line.

pretentious limey pricks are a subspecies
fuck Morrisey and his whiny-ass music.

This is in re to the "wrong brother died" comments…WHAT THE FUCK DID RIVER PHOENIX EVER DO THAT WAS SO GODDAMNED HOT? Stand By Me? That "Explorers" movie, whatever it was called? Seriously, what the fuck did River Phoenix ever do that Joaquin hasn't?

It's truly a milestone…what's funny is you don't have to log in to prove your age on the nudity video, but you do on the "f**k you" video.

That is pretty nice…

Also, Pedant, you're exactly right. I tried to explain once to a self-professed "conservative" friend of mine that invading a country like Iraq for no real reason other than "he tried to kill my daddy (and I want his oil)" is not "conservative" in any sense of the word, and he went off on some tirade about "the

things start splittin at the seams and now…
Ceelo also did a pretty badass cover of "No One's Gonna Love You" by Band of Horses recently…

Without getting on the soapbox again, I guess my rant on this (non) issue had to do with my own expectations before I ever went to Korea. According to my mom (I was too young to remember), she and I used to watch MASH reruns when I was but a wee bairn, and I think somehow or other I subconsciously expected Korea to

It wasn't, I read other comments that said that. It wasn't directed at anybody, I just felt like typing, really.

BTW thanks, Forrest.

And also, in case you guys didn't know, there's a pretty sizable US military presence in South Korea, because (I think) the Korean war never officially ended. Officially.

No I'm not, I know it could "slip into a larger commentary" like you said (I said that in my comment, basically).

And I shouldn't have said "the Viet Cong was made up mostly of civilians." I should have said "a significant percentage of the Viet Cong was made up of Vietnamese citizens."

(sorry for soapboxing, this wouldn't all fit in one comment box.)

In an uncharacteristically "conservative" moment…
I have to say that the Korean war worked out pretty well, at least for South Korea. I lived there for two years, and it's a great place to live, there's virtually no violent crime, public transportation is cheap and efficient, and you can get a pretty big, nutritious

I haven't read the article yet; I plan to tomorrow sometime.

And "Strictly…" isn't Pac's only "good" album, as a matter of fact I'd go out on a limb and say 2Pac never put out a bad album, at least not while he was alive. Yeah, "All Eyez On Me" does suffer from being a bit too long, but either disc standing alone is on par, overall, with "Ready To Die."
