Season 9 wasn't as "good" as the first eight (in that I didn't care about the characters), but it made me laugh harder and more consistently than any other season. I like to think of it as a completely different show,

I liked Paul well enough. Keith and Jake were both awful characters. Keith only got even a little likable after she dumped him.

It's the opposite for me. I liked him back in Season 1, but every time he shows up in Season 3, I get the same impression you did, about thinking he's uncontrollably smug. It's probably a big part of why Season 3 doesn't do it for me. Him and Tara Reid.

Hey everyone! I used to do long write-ups in the comments section of the Scrubs reviews. I had a different username back then. Since I don't follow A.V.Club as closely as I used to, I didn't know that the Scrubs reviews were coming back until today, so I haven't watched these two episodes and don't have much to say

Fair enough. As I described it to my brother: "There's one 'twist' that's so obvious that I don't think it was even meant to be a twist."
Funny that I had to describe it to my brother; he's the one who got me to watch seasons 2-4 of this show, but he hasn't had a chance to see it yet because life kind of took a dump

The fact that you're still monitoring comments a day later tells me just how much you really love this show, Zack. These reviews really are a labor of love, and I truly appreciate that.

I'm surprised they didn't get a censor bar when he took off his shirt.

Nice catch, @avclub-2300d8171ca46be1ee5a72d2837c1b6d:disqus !

I did notice that, but it definitely needed to be pointed out.

One of the only things about this episode that rubbed me the wrong way was how obvious that allusion was, and it's the part that you specifically praised.

In the season 4 episode "Everybody Comes to Hank's," Hank loses his virginity, and then learns a truth so horrifying that he has to get his memory wiped. He knows he won't remember getting laid, so he leaves himself a message on his

I know it's silly to get hung up on letter grades, but… Why the minus? I think this may be the best single episode they've done yet.

This is one of those shows where I'd be really hard-pressed to narrow it down. Honestly, most of the individual episodes of season 1 (except for its finale) are sort of disposable, but together they're more than the sum of their parts, so I wouldn't want you miss out on all that world-building and stakes-establishing.

Jessica Rabbit made me think things I was way too young to be thinking. I was—oh, I don't even know, maybe five or six years old, and I didn't even really know how to process it; I just knew I wanted her to be on the screen more.

Favorites:
Well, this "bait and switch" thing used to be Adult Swim's stock-in-trade. Moral Orel and Venture Bros. both started out as simple farcical parodies (of, respectively, Davey & Goliath and Johnny Quest) but then evolved into deeply moving character-based serialized stories.

It's going to be impossible for me to deny my bias on this one, since Chagnon's original Yanomamö was the first text that was assigned to me back in my Introduction to Cultural Anthropology course freshman year of college. This was back in 2004. My professor never once mentioned Patrick Tierney or Darkness in El Dorado

They made four.

Agreed; I also find this confusing.

I just checked again, a it's still unfixed.
