That was the main one I was looking for.  Maybe the best screwball comedy ever, maybe, maybe.  (This from a guy who loves most of Preston Sturges' work.) So deft.

I think Joel is a fine tunesmith, and there are songs up his I truly like (several on this album).  But he's also got a nasty misogynistic streak that shows up now and again in a very adolescent way.  His stabs at depth or poignancy also often come off as pretty stunted.  Not sure he really ever got past, say, 14 or

I'm kinda stunned that the performance isn't listed here, even if it is a supporting role.  It's my favorite role she ever played.

I saw it opening weekend and thought it was really poor.   I think I left with about 15 minutes to go: No emotional investment whatsoever.

I saw ARGO earlier today.  Terrific movie.  I think GONE BABY GONE is richer, but this is tighter and pretty much works like a Swiss watch, which is arguably a greater directorial achievement.  It's a fairly direct descendent of DOG DAY AFTERNOON, though not as character-rich.  B+/A- is just about right.  I never even
