AGE and KING are two of my favorite movies of his, as well. I think I could even make an argument that AGE OF INNOCENCE is his best movie so far, but then I have to bring in more subjective issues about morality and whatnot to do so, because I think GOODFELLAS is one of the few "perfect" films out there.

There's still a big problem
Erica seems to have been fabricated so the filmmakers could shoehorn their thesis into the film, wheras they (or at least Fincher) stump around about how factual the story is, right down to repacing Mark's drinking binge from screwdrivers to Beck's beer when it was determined that he was

I loved this commentary, but was anyone else distracted by Tasha's digitized cold breath was in the nighttime winter scenes? They manage to seamlessly graft a head onto a twin but can't get a cloud of breath to look right?

John Getz
I'm glad to see Getz getting work anytime. I don't care for his over the top performance in THE FLY, but he was fantastic in BLOOD SIMPLE.

Actually, B- is about right
This was marred in the same way that the previos film was: The dour tone of the youngsters is just too unbelievable. Very rarely do these kids come off as "kids": They come off as as adults of a certain mindset want to romanticize troubled kids as dour and mostly mirthless. Yes, some kids

I remember CRICKET. BANANAS, too, I believe.

Sex, lies and videotape looked great, then Walt Lloyd shot SHORT CUTS, which looked pretty poor. Not sure what happened there. I'd chalk it up to Altman racing through things, but many of his movies look great (McCABE, NASHVILLE, 3 WOMEN, LONG GOODBYE)….

THE TOWN is about a B+ while you're watching it, though
That movie cooks. It didn't really hit me until much later that I didn't care too much about most of the characters, but they were still interesting, and the movie really moves. This is one of the first films in a looooooooong time where the last act started

First tie I took notice of Crowe was in THE QUICK AND THE DEAD. I meant to keep track of him but forgot about it. Then I saw THE INSIDER and was blown away by the film and his performance (and even Pacino's, for the most part, and some of the supporting players). Since then, he's been good in some things, but he

ELO - ELDORADO
Margaret Hamilton and Judy Garland.

CC Baxter:

GERRY is pretty terrific. The dirt mattress scene alone is worth it.

Gullible media?
People pretty much called bunk on this early on. If anyone believes it at this point, it's akin to pranks I played at my most immature: The jokester simply keeps insisting in the face of all skepticism that something is true until the other party is worn down by fatigue, not conviction, at which point

Roger Ebert — Herzog vs. 3D beatdown
This should be interesting.

Actually, bigots are the single greatest cause of anti-Semitism today.

Is that where the confusion stems? I didn't think I misused the word.

Funny enough: The anecdote just turned up in Ebert's 9/8 club newsletter.

Okay: If it were me…

In Maguire's defense: He did terrific observational comedy in WONDER BOYS. Smart-alec would have been easy if it had been required.

I've enjoyed some 3D. What I don't care for is (the trial version I experienced of) DBox, the vibrating tipping rollicking chair for which you're supposed to pay an extra ten bucks or so. It's as if the movie absolutely does not tryst you to enjoy it, so every moment the camera tips or something onscreen shakes or
