Mackenzie Crook as the Riddler.
She took my suggestion. Nice!
Yeah, we discussed this on these very boards when the earlier item ran. How funny.
Give Out of Sight a shot. Terrific movie, great cast, and she's good in it.
Hudsucker has its moments and it looks great, but it's horribly mannered, and the final fight is just awful in every way. Magical Negro indeed.
Coen brothers early run was only marred by Hudsucker Proxy.
Top o' my head:
C+ is about right
B-, C+
I'm a huge Herzog fan, and I walked out on this. I thought it was not only bad, but poor and boring. Yep — boring.
Fair enough. I'm still optimistic, though.
(Some might add Kundun, but I haven't watched the whole thing and didn't find the kid engaging.)
He's handled kids well in Alice, Taxi Driver, Goodfellas …
I think that the Squeeze reference regards the Velvet Underground record, not Difford and Tillbrook. Icould be wrong, but that's how I read it.
Ryan Gosling
What the hell. It'd be better than Sam Worthington, anyway.
Good tip. Thanks!
KING OF COMEDY
Is the Scorsese movie not the granddaddy of awkward comedy? I love the UK OFFICE, but isn't KING OF COMEDY the antecedant?
I am once again cheered by reading some love for ELO. To me, ELDORADO and A NEW WORLD'S RECORD are unassailable, and all the other albums have their moments, too. Much of FACE THE MUSIC is terrific, and about half of TIME, DISCOVERY, OUT OF THE BLUE, BALANCE OF POWER, and ON THE THIRD DAY are, too. Only SECRET…
Boy oh boy. For a while there, each day was a new Far Side, Bloom County, AND Calvin and Hobbes. We had a few golden years, there.
Comma comma.
I thought he did the best acting job in O BROTHER
He had the whole cartoon thing + pathos thing down. Clooney had the cartoon part down. Turturro was just a let down.
